Syndis receives the 2022 Ský IT Award

The IT security company Syndis received the 2022 Ský IT award, which was presented at a ceremony held on the conference and exhibition day of UTmessan.

"Few companies in Iceland have been as prominent in the field of IT security as Syndis. It could be said that Syndis has become synonymous with information security in Iceland. Syndis employees have discovered major security flaws in products and services from large and well-known manufacturers around the world." - The Judging Panel for the 2022 Ský IT Awards.

Syndis received the Sky honorary award at the 2022 UTmessan for an outstanding contribution in the field of information technology. Syndis was founded in 2011 when three friends, Theódór Ragnar Gíslason, Ýmir Vigfússon and Rich Smith, decided to leverage their knowledge in the field of IT security to increase security awareness in Iceland. Syndis was acquired by Origo in 2021, at which time Origo Security Solutions and Syndis merged under the Syndis name, creating a robust unit that offers comprehensive digital security services, consultancy and development of solutions that protect against cyberattacks and data and identity theft.

Valdimar Óskarsson, CEO of Syndis: "Syndis employs a team of experts who are known globally for their work in the field of information security, address security issues around the world and have given a number of presentations at international conferences. From the beginning, Syndis has placed a strong emphasis on research and development in the field of information security and operates a software division that is working on the development of a solution that assesses whether a given business might be considered a prime target for hackers, who remain a global threat. The experience of our security specialists is vital for this work."

Syndis has assisted a large number of organizations who have been the victims of cyberattacks, but the most important aspect of Syndis' operations is to help organizations protect themselves from attacks and thereby minimise any potential damage before it occurs. Syndis has always tried to respond quickly to new threats; as an example, Syndis participated in the effort to address the "Log4j" vulnerability that emerged last winter, helping organizations to take the necessary protective measures.
